Gazette: “Hearing to take up porn regs on Thursday”

Monday’s Gazette notes an important public meeting is on tap this week. We encourage all concerned citizens to attend.

If there hasn’t been enough public discussion yet on the issue of pornography in the city, there’s yet another opportunity this week, when the Planning Board and Ordinance Committee continue a public hearing on proposed regulations of porn shops. The proposed ordinance changes would affect retail shops selling adult-themed materials, like the one currently under consideration for 135 King St., by limiting the amount of square-footage that can be use to sell such items. The proposed regulation also would limit stores that include viewing booths to being located in the highway business district and prohibit the display of obscene images in windows or on signs [see details]. The public hearing is set for 7 p.m. Thursday in the Council Chambers of the Puchalski Municipal Building [212 Main Street].
